Prof. Dr. Karsten Hemmrich joined POLYTECH in February 2024 as Chief Executive Officer, bringing extensive experience from his role as Global Vice President at Essity and previous positions at BSN Medical and McKinsey & Company. His expertise in MedTech, biotech, and pharma strengthens POLYTECH's strategic vision.

Trained as a medical doctor in Germany, the US, Switzerland, and Australia, Prof. Hemmrich holds an MD in immunobiology and a PhD in stem cell research, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. His medical career includes several years in plastic surgery, with rotations at Harvard Medical School and Johns Hopkins University, and a microsurgery fellowship in Melbourne, Australia.

Prof. Hemmrich's research in soft tissue reconstruction has been recognized with multiple scholarships and prizes. He continues to contribute to academia through teaching and has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and medical book chapters.
