POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics Statement
POLYTECH Health & Aesthetics GmbH, a long-established manufacturer of breast implants with decades of clinical experience and a strong focus on quality, safety and clinical performance, provides the following update regarding recent legal proceedings in Germany.
The Regional Court of Munich I has issued a preliminary injunction relating to a specific manufacturing process for certain polyurethane-coated breast implant products in Germany, as well as products obtained by that process.
POLYTECH has implemented all necessary measures to comply with the ruling and has filed an appeal. The matter is subject to further judicial review.
Importantly, the decision is not related to any quality or safety concerns regarding Microthane® products.
The injunction is limited to a specific manufacturing process and to activities in Germany. It does not constitute a general restriction on polyurethane-based implant technologies as such.
At the same time, the decision has the potential to affect continuity of supply in certain markets where alternative options may not be readily available.
POLYTECH is actively addressing these implications arising from the injunction through a structured set of measures. This includes:
- Pursuing all available legal remedies,
- Advancing alternative technical approaches within applicable regulatory frameworks,
- And working towards sustainable solutions to ensure continued support for surgeons and patients.
While the availability of certain polyurethane-coated products may be temporarily affected in specific markets, POLYTECH continues to support its partners through its remaining broad and well-established product portfolio.
The majority of POLYTECH’s product portfolio, including non-polyurethane-coated breast implants such as POLYsmoooth™, MESMO® and POLYtxt®, as well as B-Lite® lightweight implants, remains fully available.
